About Ruth Harper Ruth Harper, MS, RDN, LDN Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist

Hi! I’m Ruth, a Registered Dietitian specializing in nutrition therapy for the healing of eating disorders and coaching clients toward the goal of intuitive eating. I am pleased to be aligned with the Health At Every Size (HAES®) philosophy.

It is my goal to create a safe space for my clients to share their lived experiences so they can gain insight into their eating issues. Using a weight-inclusive, trauma-informed lens, I help people access their values and practice self-compassion as they learn how to listen to their bodies as a resource for eating confidently without rigidity.  I am a naturally curious person who leans in to understand motivations and strategic adaptations that inform eating choices and body image issues – without judgement. At each session, clients create clear intentions for what they are ready to accomplish, gradually working toward both long and short term successes – nourishing their bodies more skillfully and intuitively!

Personally, I have overcome eating issues of my own. A body-conscious teen, I struggled with rigid eating attitudes and behaviors that continued into adulthood, despite my growing nutrition knowledge and clinical experience. It took significant personal growth for me to understand and apply intuitive eating skills, leading to real freedom in my eating, body image, and health. More recently, in peri-menopause, I have navigated a changing body, and can share from experience that learning peace with food and body is rewarding and important at all ages!

I am a Christian, and am passionate about helping people connect their faith with their recovery. It is challenging to leave the perceived safety of disordered eating patterns, but I can testify to the sufficiency of God as refuge for those who seek Him. (Psalm 36:7-9)

I’ve been married for over 25 years, am the proud mother of two adult children, and a former Division 1 collegiate athlete (track & cross-country). In my spare time, I love to hike and bike, study the Bible with other women, read, write, and eat great food.
